By addressing aspects of both the mind and body the Eastern Medicine approach treats the whole person and not simply signs and symptoms. It addresses the root cause thereby producing remarkable results for an array of conditions.  Eastern Medicine is a safe, practical and time tested method of healing. It accomplishes this by bringing harmony and balance to the different systems of the body and is being used now more than ever before.

The following are several conditions that Vishal has treated successfully.  Additionally the NIH (National Institute of Health) and the WHO (World Health Organization) have recognized Eastern Medicine as an effective treatment for the following conditions:

  • Acute and chronic pain (back pain, joint pain, knee pain, sports injuries, arthritis, headaches/migraines)
  • Immune related conditions (allergies, colds, flus, infections)
  • Skin conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis)
  • Digestive issues (IBS, Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's Disease, acid reflux)
  • Cardiovascular health (high blood pressure, cholesterol, circulation issues)
  • Menstrual disorders (PMS, painful/irregular cycles, fertility)
  • Emotional health (stress, anxiety, depression, addictions)
  • Health (sports performance, maintenance and prevention)

Acupuncture is the application of very thin, solid, hairlike needles inserted along specific points on the body. The stimulation of these acupuncture points affects both the central and peripheral nervous systems. It triggers the release of the body's internal chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins, which have pain-relieving and health regulating properties.

Acupuncture has been practiced for over 3000 years in many East Asian countries. It has been used as standard medical care throughout history to help balance the natural energies of the body to live a healthy life free from pain and disease. Although it is most widely utitlized for its treatment of pain, modern science is just now starting to understand the profound effect it can have on the general well being and health of an indvidual. Vishal has used acupuncture to treat acute and chronic conditions ranging from pain to more complicated health concerns.

Ayurveda, like Chinese Medicine describes health as balance and ill health as imbalance.  Ayurveda restores the balance and hamony of an individual which results in good health, self healing and longevity.  Ayurveda’s unique approach is one of understanding your individual mind/body constitution. These constitutions have particular qualities or attributes which characterize their effects on the human body and can be described as physical, psychological, energetic and emotional strengths and weaknesses.  When you understand your individual constitution you can profoundly influence your predisposition to health, general and specific sensitivity to illness, and responsiveness to various forms of therapy.

Ayurveda has significantly contributed to how we currently practice medicine.  Here are a few examples:

  • The drug Reserpine is extracted from the plant Rauwolfia Serpentina.  Rauwolfia Serpentina is still used today in India to control hypertension.
  • Gugul is an herbal remedy widely prescribed in Ayurveda that binds to cholesterol in the GI tract and can effectively control hyperlipidimia without the negative side effects of statins.
  • Sushruta was an Ayurvedic physician and is considered to be the father of modern surgery.

Physical Medicine

Vishal has been trained in various forms of therapeutic physical medicine, and has integrated these modalities into Omshen Eastern Medicine’s clinical practice for many years. Based on your personal health concerns, we will incorporate these ancient proven therapies into your treatment, including:

  • Tui Na/Acupressure: A rigorous and deep form of massage which is very relaxing and invigorating.
  • Cupping: The application of cups to specific areas of tightness, stress, or trauma. This technique greatly improves blood flow and releases muscle adhesions (knots).
  • Moxibustion: The warming of specific areas of the body using herbs or another heating source. This greatly diminishes pain, improves vitality and is very relaxing.
  • Craniosacral Therapy: Based on the physiological principle that the flow of fluid within the body is important in health, gentle massage is used to facilitate flow of spinal fluid and relieve tension in bones and joints.
